- Mapserver homepage: THE map engine. An open source project from Minnesota University. One most used map engine in the world. Supports many raster formats, vector formats and databases. MapServer is also OGC compliant and is a WMS server.
- PostgreSQL homepage: The most advanced open source object-relationnal database management system. PostgreSQL is a true enterprise database solution, with many tools to configure, manage, replicate databases.
- PostGIS homepage: the PostgreSQL spatial cartridge. OCG-compliant (Simple Features Specifications for SQL). Allows to store and manipulate geographic information directly into a PostgreSQL database. PostGIS is supported by many GIS projects (MapServer, GeoTools, Jump, uDig, etc.). Postgis provides many functions and operators to work with spatial data.
